Plays beautifully and looks great! Pioneer’s highest-end belt-drive, loved by audiophiles and collectors. Fully serviced: cleaned, lubed, detailed; rubber treated, thrust bearing rebuilt, new belt included. Plinth treated with Howard’s; lid has minor scratches. Includes 45-adapter and original Audio Technica PLC9 MM cart with PLN9 stylus. Needs damping fluid for tonearm.
The PU-41 transcription deck debuted in 1966 (~$2,100 adj.), later marketed as PL-41 in 1967. Typeface updated in 1968. Serial suggests Feb. ’67, #230. Likely only ~2,000 units produced before Pioneer lost market share to Technics direct-drives by 1970.
