Gorgeous metal reliquary containing the virgin Mary icon
This appears to be a handmade item of significant age
The icon is encased under glass and mounted on a deep burgundy velvet background
The top frame is embossed silver tin metal
The glass piece is not firmly attached to the metal frame so it moves around a bit
4.75" tall, 3.75" wide and 1" deep
Back plate is wood with a ring hook for hanging on wall
If you are looking for perfection, this is not your item. It is a very old handmade item with imperfections
Please note photos: tarnish on the embossed frame, glass not attached to frame, it "floats" in the frame, minor imperfections on the metal ring that holds the case together
But a beautiful piece of religious history, extremely charming and a rare find
