This is an authentic antique Ace of Spades produced by B. Dondorf of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, circa 1870s, from the Four Continents (Vier Erdteile) luxury deck. It features an Orientalist scene with riders and domed architecture representing Asia, and the maker’s imprint “DONDORF / FRANCFORT" along the sides — a signature hallmark of early Dondorf export issues.
The ornate floral back with “BD" monogram and twin female masks is classic Dondorf artistry. Early printings like this one have square corners and were printed using rich chromolithography on quality card stock.
A genuine piece of 19th-century design history — perfect for collectors of playing cards, ephemera, or Victorian art.
